• ‘Tis the season of giving and this week’s news brought a relentless drip-drip-drip of the justice storm that is coming to those who attacked the country as the picture slowly comes into focus.
• The January 6th committee held several public meetings this week, during which holy-crap-explosive texts were read aloud. The texts were sent to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows from Republican Congressmen, Fox News hosts, and Donald Trump Jr, during the violent attack on the Capitol. Each of the texts begged White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to get Trump to stop the violence at the Capitol. These texts indicate that all of these individuals knew that Trump had the power to stop the rioters. None of the texts said anything like, “Is POTUS OK? Has he been taken to a secure location?” Those are the kinds of messages we would see when an unexpected attack on America happens. They all knew.

• The above screenshot is particularly chilling. Someone, believed to be former Trump Energy Secretary Rick Perry, sent this to Meadows. It suggests that Republican legislatures in states where votes were still being counted on November 4th should ignore the will of the people and declare a winner on their own and hope that the Supreme Court would hand the election to Trump. Trump had been saying for weeks that the Court would do just that.
• Representative Cheney specifically asked, “Did Donald Trump, through action or inaction, corruptly seek to obstruct or impede Congress’s proceedings?” Her choice of words, used on more than one occasion, is directly from 18 U.S. Code § 1512, and seems to hint at the charges that may be facing the former President and the Congressmen who assisted in the plot. That section of the criminal code is already being used by prosecutors on the rioters. Over 700 foot soldiers have been charged for the attack so far. Reminder: Trump directed his Department of Justice to “just say the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the R. Congressmen”.
